While each attorney brings a distinct background and perspective, we share one standard: providing exceptional legal representation with the personal attention every family deserves.

Meet Vanessa D. Torres

Vanessa D. Torres is the principal of the Law Office of Vanessa D. Torres, P.A. and exclusively practices Family/Matrimonial, Aviation, and Business law. An experienced litigator and negotiator, she represents companies operating in the aviation industry, small to mid-size companies on all their general counsel needs and families during some of the worst and best times in their lives.

Ms. Torres has substantial experience in federal and state court, arbitrations, mediations, and defending claims before agencies. In addition to her litigation and negotiation experience, Ms. Torres provides clients with valuable day-to-day preventive counseling on compliance and avoiding lawsuits, offering in-house training programs on topics such as hiring/firing, sexual harassment, diversity, Family and Medical Leave Act, discrimination, and wage and hour compliance.

With respect to the aviation practice, Ms. Torres represents Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities with operations in Miami and throughout the world. She handles all domestic and international transactions, regulatory compliance matters, and handle the day-to-day challenges regarding employment and labor law issues when serving in the role of General Counsel for the MRO facility. She also handles Defense of FAA enforcement actions and assists with voluntary disclosures.

Ms. Torres is an active member in the Florida Bar’s Aviation Law Committee, the Dade County Bar Association, a Board Member on the Miami-Dade Aircraft Noise Abatement Board representing District 6, a member in the Florida Bar Family Law Section Committee Member (Continuing Legal Education and Children’s Issues) and Citizens Review Panel Member for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Dependency Court.

Meet Daysi Vega-Mendez

Daysi Vega-Mendez is an Associate Attorney who brings significant courtroom and litigation experience to the firm, along with a strong foundation in family and matrimonial law.

Before joining the firm, Daysi served as an Assistant State Attorney with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted both felony and misdemeanor cases and gained substantial hands-on litigation experience. She represented the State of Florida in jury trials, argued numerous substantive motions, conducted depositions, handled bond hearings, reviewed search warrants, and worked closely with victims, witnesses, and law enforcement throughout the litigation process. Her leadership and courtroom abilities also led to her selection as a County Training Attorney in the Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Unit, where she was responsible for training and supervising newly hired Assistant State Attorneys.

Daysi’s experience in family law began before she entered prosecution. While attending law school, she worked as a Family Law Clerk with a South Florida firm, assisting with contested and uncontested divorces, child support, paternity, alimony, custody modifications, and prenuptial agreements. This combination of family-law experience and courtroom advocacy allows Daysi to approach sensitive family matters with both careful preparation and the confidence to advocate for clients when litigation becomes necessary.

Daysi earned her Juris Doctor cum laude from St. Thomas University School of Law. During law school, she received the CALI Book Award for Appellate Advocacy, completed more than 200 hours of pro bono service, and served on the Moot Court Board as a competitor and student coach. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and History cum laude from the University of Florida.

A native-level Spanish speaker, Daysi is fluent in Spanish and has experience communicating with Spanish-speaking clients, victims, and witnesses in legal proceedings.

Daysi understands that family-law matters often arise during some of the most consequential and emotionally difficult periods in a client’s life. She approaches each matter with preparation, professionalism, and a commitment to ensuring that clients understand both their legal options and the path ahead.
